Income Protection
It is estimated that one in six workers will be out of work for more than six months over the course of their working life due to illness or disability. Did you know that:
- 85% of private sector employees are fully dependent on state benefit after six months of absence
- Public sector employees receive full pay for six months and half-pay for the next six months
- Self-employed individuals are not entitled to any state benefits.
Income protection cover, or Permanent Health Insurance (PHI), pays you a replacement (taxable) income if you lose your work income due to disability, illness or injury until you are well enough to return to work (or reach your chosen retirement age). Cover is available on an individual policy basis or may be included as part of a pension arrangement.
